Item Description

A classic, most excellent and colorful malachite psuedo after a very sharp cuprite octahedron from the famous mines at Chessy. 7 of the 8 faces of this pristine cutie have nifty skeletal/indented features and are partially filled with iron oxides. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is an outstanding example of a classic form and species. Similar have sold widely in recent years for $200-400. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and obtained in 1972 from David New. The Trimingham label indicates the piece came from the Smithsonian.
