Item Description

The piece is highlighted by sharp, velvety, green "sword"-shaped monoclinic, prismatic pseudomorphs of Malachite replacing Azurite which are associated with olive green Bayldonite and medium green color Arsentsumebite on matrix from Tsumeb. Interestingly, there appears to be two generations of Malachite pseudomorphs with broader crystals of a darker green hue and thin prismatic crystals of a lighter green hue. I don't have to tell you that the value of Tsumeb specimens seems to rise daily, and fine quality specimens are now highly sought after, and prized more than ever by dealers and collectors alike. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8197). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale.
