Item Description

A true classic from Bisbee! This piece features a handful of sharp, prismatic, "sword-shaped" crystals of Azurite which have been pseudomorphed into forest green colored Malachite on gossan matrix. No damage that I can see, and the piece is notably aesthetic as you can see. The largest crystal measures 1.7 cm long. The piece displays well and really looks nice up close too. This is historic material from Bisbee, the premier locality in Arizona for Azurite and Malachite specimens in many collector's minds. This piece is only labeled as coming from Bisbee, but I believe it's probably from the Campbell Shaft. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7651). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
