Item Description

A wonderful specimen featuring velvety, green Malachite which has formed pseudomorphs after blocky Azurite crystals from the famous New Cornelia Mine near Ajo, Arizona. A small amount of an unknown grey-black botryoidal mineral (Goethite?) can be seen here and there. Very good condition overall and really eye-catching. The largest single pseudomorph measures 3.0 cm. Classic material, not easily found on the market these days. Valued at $750 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
