Item Description

A beautiful specimen of Malachite pseudomorphing after a "rose"-shaped group of Azurite from the classic locality at Morenci. The majority of the piece has been replaced by the forest green Malachite, but there are several spots of dark blue Azurite that can be seen all over the piece. This area has produced some of the most attractive Azurite and Malachite combinations from any locality in the world. Obviously, Bisbee is the premier Arizona locality for Azurite specimens, but Morenci produced some truly gorgeous specimens over the years. This attractive display specimen is in great shape on the all around, with very little damage. Individual crystals measure up to 1.4 cm across. There is a small amount of turquoise blue colored Chrysocolla on the underside of the piece for a nice touch. We rarely see good "rose" pseudomorphs from Morenci on the market, and if you collect secondary ore minerals, copper species or minerals of Arizona, don't miss out on this striking miniature sized display piece for a great price. Valued at $950 in the inventory.
