Item Description

Fantastic sculptural form on this outstanding large botryoidal malachite from the famous copper mines of Kolwezi. All of the botryoids have scintillating rich green surfaces. The stunning tall, 14.1 cm, layered nubby stalactite dramatically dominates the piece with the sculptural field of bubbly botryoids being a superlative contrast and complement. The bubbly botryoids look like ropy green lava! BOTH the tip and broken base of the large stalactite have the tube, where the where the copper-rich precipitating fluids flowed. The base also reveals the striking radial growth of the stalactite. Essentially pristine. Valued at $2000-2500 for quality, amazing form and perfection. Not many this good have been available recently.
