A statuesque cluster of pristine bubbly botryoidal malachite stalactites is artistically set in the striking custom-made intricately carved wooden base on this most impressive large 360-degree decorative specimen from the famous Chinese copper miig district (a cluster of mines around the site of the old Tonglushan Mine). It is a unique style, reaily different visually from Congolese material. This was purchased in the mining town nearby. The lustrous botryoids reach 9.3 cm tall. The surreal swirling pastoral scenes on the wood base are a dramatic complement and contrast to the malachite stalactites. Outstanding Natural and Man-made Art in unison. When buying in China, I can often find good deals on the ground in the shops that cater to the home decor market, as those folks had the good eye to pick remarkable malachites for shape and texture. They merge them with wood to create pieces that many Chinese can buy, collectors or not. Many good specimens, are found on such interesting bases - even if we seldom bring the bases home from China with the minerals. The malachite specimen can be removed for shippping and displayed on its own, as well, of course. The measurements include the wooden base, by the way. The malachite specimen itself should be something quite nice, worth in the $3-5k range.
