Item Description

Mineral specimens attributable to this obscure copper mine are RARE compared to those from the nearby and better known Apex Mine. Diverging finger-like segmented malachite stalactites form an aesthetic and sculptural small cabinet specimen. The broken/contacted tips reveal the hollow tubes where the precipitating copper-rich fluids flowed, add pizzazz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7433 and acquired in the mid-1970s. The locality information is written in her box. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare, old-time Utah malachite.
