Item Description

Botryoidal manganese oxides richly cover the large sculptural specimen of terminated quartz crystals from this well-known South Carolina locale. The crystals reach about 3.5 cm on this imposing combination. Quartz specimens from here are generally called "elestial" quartz because of their stepped-growth faces, which are visible on the scattered uncoated areas. The piece displays well from two-sides without aid and is pristine in the interior. Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
