Item Description

Merwinite is a rare calcium, magnesium silicate found in high temperature, low pressure contact metamorphic zones with marbles. This older specimen hosts pods and veins of lustrous, light gray merwinite on both sides in a matrix of calcite and bedded brown sandstone. Ex Mullane Collection and comes with a Warner & Grieger label. They were prominent California dealers and collectors prior to World War II.
