Item Description

This is a good book of the hydrated Mica, Eastonite. The variegated color ranges from gold to brassy to deep brown, the pearly luster is classic for a Mica, and two of the original sides of the hexagonal crystal form are preserved. Easton is the Type Locality for Eastoninte, but we should note that this small cab has also been labeled "Vermiculite' and "Jefferisite", both valid and both possible. Save for the location, it would be hard to dispute either of these other possible identifications. Originally in the 1800's collection of August Frenzel, this was #7220 in Kay's collection.
