Microcline (Baveno twin)

This is a beautiful and fine quality piece for any fan of Feldspar or twinned crystals. This piece dates back to a discovery in Pakistan in late 2005. Over the years, we haven't seen a lot of twinned Microclines from Pakistan, and this specimen is a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, porcelain-esque Baveno twinned crystal of Microcline, free of matrix. The name of this twinning habit comes from the locality in Italy where it was first observed. Baveno twin crystals are elongated along the b axis, and the twinning plane, a diagonal one, runs through opposite edges of the prismatic crystal. These twins are very hard to obtain from Pakistan, especially is such fine quality examples. This piece is a great Baveno twin with excellent form, and looks like a beautiful piece of marble. Valued at $700 for the size and quality.
