Microcline (fine crystals) (ex Rock Currier and Alex Venzke Collections)

When it comes to crystallized Feldspar, most people will think of the fine crystals from Baveno, Italy or the various localities in the Pikes Peak District in Colorado, but the specimens from the Papachacra Mountains in Argentina are just as desirable and fine quality. This piece is a wonderful display quality piece featuring several excellent, very sharp, incredibly well-formed, soft pinkish-beige colored blocky crystals of Microcline measuring up to 2.5 cm associated with minor Albite at the base. I can't find any major damage to the main crystals, and the piece displays beautifully as you can see from the photos. I have not seen many specimens with this attractive three-dimensional form on the market recently, and it must be said that fewer and fewer pieces have been coming out of this area in recent years, so don't miss out. This piece comes with a free customized acrylic display base as well. This specimen comes from the collection of our own Alex Venzke (#124.20), member of the leadership team of the Young Mineral Collectors group, a member of the mindat.org management team, a board member for the national Friends of Mineralogy organization, a board member for the Mineralogical Society of the District of Columbia, and co-founder and current Vice President of the Friends of Mineralogy Virginia Chapter.
