Item Description

Sharp microcline crystals, such as this exceptional and aesthetic specimen, are RARE from thie famous pegmatites of the Pala District, which include the Tourmaline King and Queen, Pala Chief, Vanderberg and Stewart mines. Impressive, textbook, glassy, translucent, porcelaneous crystals, to 6.6 cm, are aesthetically set in the feldspar with quartz matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3517 and acquired from Lucy Bradley in July, 1964. Previously in the George Ashley Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare, OLD-TIME, and outstanding San Diego County microcline. A MUST for the California pegmatite collector!
