Item Description

The world's best Amazonites are produced from the pegmatite stringers within the Pikes Peak Batholith. Among these, there is a particular and justified attraction with those Amazonites that have epitaxial Albite overgrowths that give them so-called whitecaps. The color contrast between the white of the feldspar zone without blue color and that of the blue-green Amazonite is dramatic and appealing, and preferential growths such as this are endlessly fascinating, period. The pics portray just how attractive this miniature is. It is s STUNNING example of this material, and a perfect miniature size. These are old, said to be from erratic pockets found in the 1960s through the 1980s. I have not seen any great modern ones with this sharpness and contrast. Formerly in the extensive collection of W & A Cook.
