Item Description

Fine pair of Microlite crystals, associated with Lepidolite, Albite, and Quartz. The Microlite, a Tantalum Oxide, actually forms in two habits in this specimen. The large Microlite, exceptional at 1.7 cm across, is heavily modified and flattened. It is tan to brown, and has good luster. The smaller, 2 mm crystal, is a classic octahedron with deep brown color and excellent luster. These have been confirmed by X-ray Diffraction. The Microlites are in purple Lepidolite, which itself rests in blue-grey Albite and Quartz. Quite exceptional for the sizes and associations, this piece was last priced at $1,400 in 1996, when it was verified by XRAY analysis (john attard)!
