Mimetite

Item Description

Unusual and attractive, these stalk-like growths of two-generation Mimetite are from the Bilbao Mine, a lesser-known locality in Zacatecas. The first generation is the core and termination of the stalks - a massive, white Mimetite with intriguing form. Wrapped around the lower half, particularly the presentation side, is a layer of glittering, mm-size, gemmy, and vivid yellow Mimetites that really draws the eye. Rare in this style, most such specimens we have seen from here are orange and resemble those from San Pedro Corralitos. I read that these only came out once in the 1950s. #2971 in Kay's collection, she must have acquired this soon after they became available.
