Excellent example of the beautiful rounded yellow Mimetites from the famous Ojuela Mine. The spheroidal aggregates of the Mimetite crystals, up to 4 mm across, have good form and a definite sparkle to them. Visually, the Mimetites stand out wonderfully as the color contrast between the intense yellow of the Mimetites and the deep rust color of the matrix really makes them jump. Interestingly, the mild fluorescence actually varies across the piece, indicating that something fascinating must be going on with the chemistry. This is a high quality small cabinet piece, not only for the species in general but for this famous locality, as well. This particular style, with isolated yellow balls on the contrasting matrix, is particularly uncommon. Valued $1500.
