Item Description

Rich orange lustrous and translucent mimetite botryoids line a sculptural vug in massive and vuggy quartz matrix on this showy and excellent old-timer from this ancient and extinct lead-silver mining district. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7227 and acquired from Ron Bentley in March, 1974. Previously in the A. Frenzel Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Mimetite from here is a classic and highly desirable species from here.
