Item Description
A really sparkly lead species mineral from a highly unusual and rare old Mexican locality: Dr. Peter Megaw corrected the label-denoted locality of La Esperanza Mine in Mapimi in Durango to Velardena, Durango, Mexico. ex. Rock Currier RHC 8057; ex. John Ydren; ex. Burton Jirgl #534; http://www.mindat.org/30C-M0L. This was part of Currier's systematic mimetite suite, that he loved. It is really 3-dimensional and interesting. So this goes way back to the mid 1900s and before! Jirgl was a major California dealer in the midcentury.
