Item Description
A classic specimen of the famous "Campylite", the distinctive variety of Mimetite from the well-known Dry Gill Mine. This piece is a fairly large specimen for the Dry Gill, with the Campylites grading from deep orange to olive green, and the luster is very good. The largest single Campylite is about 5 mm across. This variety of Mimetite is most commonly associated with Dry Gill, and these spherical, barrel-shaped crystals are some of the most well-known and highly sought-after of all English minerals. Previously in the Corley collection, this was acquired 60 years ago and became #853 in Kay's collection.
