Item Description

Here we have a big, showy impressive display specimen from one of the most prestigious localities in Mexico. The famous old Ojuela Mine is one of the most iconic mineral producing localities in the country, and has produced some of the most beloved mineral specimens in the history of mineral collecting. This full cabinet sized specimens is loaded with dozens of golden-brown to yellow color Mimetite aggregates in semi-spherical form measuring up to 8 mm which are associated with a few lovely yellow, sharp, lustrous, gemmy tabular crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 6 mm on edge sitting on matrix. The Mimetite groups are elongated, but not narrow prisms, nor are they complete "spheres", but somewhere in between. No seriously major damage, but a few contacted areas can be seen. We've seen plenty of green Mimetites from the Ojuela Mine often associated with Wulfenite, but the yellow material is older, and to my mind, less common than the green. Hard to find today, especially in a piece of this size. Priced at $4,000 in the inventory.
