Item Description

The Bertha shaft, Neue Hoffnung Mine is known for producing attracive micro specimens of Barite along with secondary ore minerals like Cerussite, Pyromorphite, Anglesite and Linarite. Another secondary mineral found there is the lead oxide, Minium, which is often found in small, bright reddish-orange spots on host rock matrix. This piece is a super example of this hard to find material, and looks great under magnification. This mine is completely defucnt and will never produce again, so if you're a completionist, don't miss out on this one. This is the ONLY piece of this species that we've had to offer from this locality, so don't miss out on the rarity from Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
