Item Description

You can find a myriad of localities in the world that produce Beryl crystals in a myriad of colors. The unique pieces from Baha, Pakistan are certainly some of the most distinctive examples of Beryl from any locality. This showy small cabinet sized piece dates back to the early 2000s and is a unique rarity for Beryl, as it's unusual to find bi-color crystals from any locality, and it's even more captivating when you have blue Aquamarine and pink Morganite together in the same specimen. This specimen features a "spray" of well-formed, sharp, hexagonal crystals with light gemmy blue sections on the terminations, that grade into a very pale pink Morganite hue throughout the rest of the prisms. The largest crystal measures 3.4 cm long. If you flip the piece over, you'll see a bit of black Schorl crystals. I love the fact that there is a distinctive cut off point where one color/clarity stops and the other begins in the crystals. It's important to note that it is a great rarity to find prismatic Morganite in nature, which might be the most important aspect of the piece, since nearly all other Morganite crystals in nature are tabular. Any collector who loves unusual and colorful gem crystals should grab this one at a bargain price. Valued at $1,250. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar, who gave this piece to Dave as a Christmas present in 2009. You can see Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
