This specimen from the Herb Obodda dealer stock, once valued $3250 in his inventory over 5 years ago, hosts a 5 x 4 x 2 cm crysatl of classic pink -colored morganite perched on a well trimmed matrix. It is well balanced, and displays the crystal to maximum effect with an intense, more gemmy core to the crystal right in the middle to it grabs the eye (and you can look inside over 1 cm deep, to matrix behind the crystal!). Morganites just seem to be fewer and far between now, perhaps due to the easier pickings having been hit over the last 30 years of digging there. Seldom can you get good, sharp morganites from other localities that compete with the Afghani material, in this price range anyhow. 244 grams
