Item Description

This is the only piece of "Morion" Quartz that we've seen from Schneeberg as most of the other Quartz specimen are slightly smoky, but never that dark black color for which the term Morion is used. The crystals are not terribly large - most measuring up to about 3 mm - but they are sharp, well-formed and very distinct. The habit is mostly pyramidal, showing only a bit of a prism on certain crystals. This would make a great addition to a worldwide Quartz collection or a suite of German minerals. A cool old Quartz specimen from this famous mining district. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4441). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
