Item Description

This locality is an old lead silver producer that dates back to 1849. It's actually on old Dana locality from Dana's 6th edition. If you'd like to read more about the interesting history of this mine, check out the following link ( http://geoinfo.nmt.edu/publications/periodicals/nmg/5/n1/nmg_v5_n1_p9.pdf ). This piece is a very rarely seen pseudomorph of greenish-tan Mottramite, that according to the label is replacing Cerussite, though our research says that this might be a pseudomorph after Wulfenite. Very rare on the market, I've only ever seen one other piece of this material that I can remember, and considering this mine has operated since the 1930s, these are antiques that are certainly worth picking up if you collect secondary ore mineral, New Mexico minerals or interesting pseudomorphs.
