Item Description

Highly lustrous, translucent, striated, colorless, nailhead calcite crystals are aesthetically mounded on this fine specimen from an uncommon Eastern Colorado locality - La Junta, Otero County. These calcites come from cracked open nodules/concretions from the Cretaceous-aged Pierre Shale. The variations of calcite habits from this area are interesting. Ex Marty Zinn and Karl Warning Collections. Purchased from Marty in March, 1989. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
