Item Description

Very rich and sculptural large matrix copper with a bright patina from this famous Copper Country mine. Most of the copper is hackly, with scattered spinel-twins and leaf copper noted. The copper rests on a brecciated basalt matrix, that is richly covered on the back with epidote and a bit of malachite. The copper was dissolved out of the basalt matrix to bring out the rich copper luster. The Central Mine closed in 1898, but the dumps still produce fine specimens periodically. Excellent, rich and classic matrix Central Mine combination copper in this size and form with two-sided presence.
