Native Selenium (rare CA), Smithsonite & Pyrite

Native Selenium is RARE from California. MINDAT lists only two localities for the species. This rare and showy vuggy two-sided small cabinet combination features dark reddish-brown native selenium coating botryoidal smithsonite on a matrix of corroded pyrite and quartz. This rare combination is from a noted small 1986 find on the 800' level of the well-known extinct Pb-Ag Darwin Mine. Ex Bob Reynolds collection. Valued at $1500-2000. Reynolds was the curator of the San Bernardino Museum and he was noted for the breadth of his important collection of California rarities.
