Item Description

Naumannite is an uncommon Ag-selenide with specimens being rare from any worldwide locality. Mineral specimens of ANY species are VERY RARE from this extinct Au-Ag-Se mine, that was worked intermittently from 1897 until the 1940s (MINDAT). The blocky quartz matrix hosts ribbons and blebs of black micro-crystalline naumannite with scattered tiny specks of electrum. There appears to be RARE purple Amethyst in the ribbons, also! The included xenoliths are excellent accessories. VERY RARE Washington precious metal ore from the Republic Mine. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. Valued at $250 by respected rarities dealer Josef Vajdak (Pequa Minerals).
