Item Description

An EXTREMELY rare specimen of the copper silver arsenida, Novakite, which was named in 1960 after the professor of mineralogy at Charles University in Prague, Jiri Novak. This piece features metallic grey patches of Novakite associated with an unknown reddish mineral in Calcite matrix. This piece was more than likely mined during the 1950s when Cerny Dul was mined for uranium, but before that, the locality had been mined since the 1300s! Specimens of Novakite (especially from the type locality) are essentially impossible to find on the market, and if you collect rarities or species from the type locality, you cannot afford to miss out on this one, as we may never have another one to put into the auctions. You simply do not see these specimens on the market, and this piece is the only specimen of this species that we have to offer. The piece comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371
