Item Description

An outstanding example of the diversity of Indian zeolites from the famous basalt quarries at Bombay. Felt-like, soft-to-the-touch, okenite balls to 2.5 cm anchor the showy, sculptural vug. The vug is lined with pastel-yellow gyrolite. A very glassy, tabular, apophyllite crystal is on the left wall and spheroids of fan-shaped epistilbite crystals are on the right front. This is exceptional species diversity for the Deccan Traps and this material is no longer available, due to population growth. Ex Howard Belsky Collection and comes with a Mineral Kingdom label dating from 1980-1987. Howard died in 1987.
