Item Description

A pretty mounded cluster and crust of bowtie-like balls of very glassy and gemmy, rose-brown to tan, elongated orthorhombic crystals of olmiite from the NEW, Fall 2008 find at the famous Nchwaning II Mine of South Africa. This is an excellent example from this find and it really glows a beautiful rose-red with good light. The luster and gemminess of these crystals is way above average for the find! A bit of bruising is noted at the top of the piece, but is a very modest detraction. Olmiite was formerly known as poldervaartite, prior to recent extensive testing.
