Item Description

Onoratoite is an extremely rare Sb-halide and this historic old antimony mine, closed in 1948, is the Type Locality. Nifty radial sprays of needles, to about 4 mm, are scattered on the vuggy blocky matrix with sulfides. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8563 and acquired in a trade with an Italian, who collected the specimen. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A highly representative and excellent example of this rarity.
