Opal-AN (Hyalite Opal) (Fluorescent)

Item Description

This is a gorgeous beautiful "Trillion Brilliant" cut gem of Hyalite Opal, which is essentially colorless, gem grade Opal. The stone comes from San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The key indicator of Hyalite Opal is that it will often show a bright green fluorescence under UV light. I will point out that "Hyalite" is a now outdated term for what is properly defined as Opal-AN. Since the name "Hyalite" has been around for hundreds of years, it's still in use on a fairly regular basis, and usually in the gem world, traditional names tend to stick around. A great example of this beautiful material.
