Item Description

A rarely seen example of orange colored Corundum (Sapphire) from India. This sharp, euhedral, well-formed, prismatic hexagonal crystal is opaque for all intents and purposes, but it has very lustrous crystal faces, and a beautiful termination. The base of the crystal is terminated as well, so it looks like a complete "floater" specimen. If you collect worldwide Corundum crystals, or general gem crystals, this is a great piece to add to your collection. Valued at $950. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5137). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
