This is a super attractive piece of Moonstone from Burma, a famous feldspar varietal accepted by the public as a gem species in its own right!. Some Orthoclase Feldspar has the special optical attribute of "moon shimmer" to it like this showy piece. It is a robust and colorful crystal section that displays gorgeous Moonstone colors on both the front and back. Colors range from pale blue to medium blue to light lavender displaying an effect more like opal with the front and back display surfaces exhibiting a vitreous luster. What is additionally impressive about this unique Burmese Moonstone is the depth of the colors due to the crystal's translucency and local transparency. The display surfaces are actually perfect cleavage traces and the remainder of the crystal is bound by a somewhat rough, tan to bluish gray exterior.
