Item Description
Osumilite-(Mg) is a very rare potassium magnesium aluminum silicate that is found in a few dozen places in the world. According to the label, this piece is from Sakkabira, though I can't find a report of the species actually coming from there. Osumilite is reported from Sakkabira, but not Osumilite. With that said, this piece features micro deep blue crystals of hexagonal Osumilite-(Mg) on rhyolite matrix. These are incredibly difficult to obtain from Japan, and if you're a rare species collector, you can't afford to miss out on this one. We've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. Formerly in the collection of Paolo Matioli of Brazil, with a label from Forrest and Barbara Cureton.
