Item Description

First discovered in Bolivia in the 1920's and named by Sam Gordon of the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, this rare phosphate has light green crystals with superior luster. These bladed crystals, which range up to 1.2 cm, are either individual, in bowtie bundles, or in starbursts. Adding to the rarity and desirability of this Paravauxite is the fact that this piece used to be in the collection of Peter Bancroft and John Sinkankas, both famous mineralogists and authors. Talk about outstanding provenance! This small cab specimen features exquisite crystals with unusually good form, translucence, and sharpness, thus giving it a higher quality than one might otherwise think. Better in real life, even.
