Item Description

The Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada is best known for its superb Grossular Garnets and Vesuvianite crystals, but it can also lay claim to producing some of the finest Pectolite crystals found. This piece features excellent, well-formed clusters of very sharp, bladed to tabular Pectolite crystals with high luster, good translucency, and a pastel shade of green. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm, which is pretty good for the species and the locality. . This piece dates to the 1970s or early 1980s, and comes from the collection of Charles ("Charlie") L. Key . Charlie was arguably the greatest mineral dealer of the second half of the 20th century. He traveled the world assembling amazing collections of world-class specimens that are on display in many museums and private collections. Charlie did all this with no advertising, and he didn't have a booth at any major show. He was one of the most knowledgeable dealers in the business, and could sight identify more species than any other dealer in his day. Charlie also has the distinction of having TWO minerals named in his honor, Keyite and Ludlockite.
