Item Description

Pentagonite is one of those great combinations of rarity and beauty in the minerals world. Although it's a rare mineral, it's still well-known to mineral collectors thanks to the number of pieces that have been found over the years at Wagholi, India, which are the finest examples ever found. It's one of those minerals that's almost exclusively tied to a single locality. The species gets its name from the rare pentagonal twins seen in certain crystals (one of the best examples I can find is at the following link: https://www.le-comptoir-geologique.com/pentagonite-en-twinned-pentagonite-ref-b20-02.html ) This piece features a lovely, 1.2 cm, intense neon blue color "spray" of Pentagonite aesthetically perched atop a layer of micro Heulandite crystals on basalt matrix. The incredible color of the Pentagonite combined with the fact that these are the finest example in the world makes it a very worthwhile specimen. Since there are so many specimens of Indian zeolites (and associated minerals) on the market, they do not get the recognition they deserve, but I want to stress that most of these minerals are incredibly fine quality and in a lot of cases the best crystallized examples of their respective species ever found.
