Item Description

Petedunnite is an extremely rare Pyroxene species that is only found in four places in the world. The type locality is the Buckwheat Pit at Franklin, New Jersey, and was only fitting that the species was named after one of the largest contributors to Franklin mineralogy, Pete Dunn. Pete worked at the Smithsonian for many years, and was one of the world's foremost experts on Franklin minerals. Sadly, Pete died in November of 2017. This piece is an impossilby rare example of the species featuring bottle-green colored massive Petedunnite sitting in Willemite matrix. If you collect rarities or specifically Franklin minerals, you cannot afford to miss out on the opportunity to pick up a piece of this elusive and highly sought after material. This is the only piece of this species that we've had to offer from this locality, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
