A true classic from Colorado! Mt Antero might be known for producing some of the finest crystallized Aquamarines in North America. Phenakite, however is another beryllium-bearing species is also of importance from this historic locality. Sharp, well-formed, gemmy to translucent, colorless to smoky modified rhombic crystals of Phenakite measuring up to 6 mm sit on beautiful purple octahedral Fluorite measuring up to 2.1 cm. The fluorite is not complete, but the contrast it provides for the lovely little Phenakites is perfect for the material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1867) with a label from the private collection of Scott Williams. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
