Phlogopite in Calcite (RARE - old)

Item Description

Specimens from this old, long extinct apatite and mica mine are EXTREMELY RARE. A textbook, 2.4 cm, tapered and layered, lustrous and translucent brown phlogopite crystal is dramatically set front and center on the sculptural intergrown cluster of large blocky calcite cleavages. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded and stained century-old label and the torn label on the bottom of the piece. Outstanding, perhaps UNIQUE combination material from this obscure old mine.
