Item Description

These are very remarkable, unusual and unique specimens from such an interesting locality. This piece is a wonderful, rarely seen and eye-catching specimen composed of semi-botryoidal, soft baby pink colored Chalcedony free of matrix. The Chalcedony has formed in several layers which are best seen on the underside of the piece. The piece has a muted waxy luster, but it's not dull. If you actually backlight this piece, you can see some beautiful internal color and the layers are a bit more pronounced. This gorgeous color and unique form are really attractive, and I can't remember seeing anything like this from any other U.S. locality. Interestingly, the site where these specimens are found is on BLM land in southeastern Arizona which was formerly the the Lazy B Cattle Ranch, the childhood home of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. If you collect Quartz and its many varieties, or if you like minerals of the southwestern US, don't miss out on this one. It's not just a Chalcedony, it's different and special, especially from takikng the color and quality into account. Lastly, the piece glows with a bright green fluorescence under SW UV light. Valued at $500.
