Item Description

These attractive Chalcedony specimens came to us a few years ago from a good friend who collected them on their claim In Antelope Valley. An interesting historical note about this locality is that it lies on BLM land that was once part of the childhood home of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (the Lazy B Cattle Ranch) located in southeastern Arizona. Here we have a nice small miniature sized specimen of Chalcedony with a wonderful very soft pink hue and a gentle, flowing semi-banded / botryoidal layered form. I really love the appearance of the piece which when combined with the graceful forms, makes for a unique specimen. The luster is probably best described as somewhat waxy, but it's not dull, it's genuinely somewhere in between. Additionally, the piece looks wonderful with a bit of backlighting. Lastly, the piece shows a intense electric green fluorescence when exposed to UV light, similar to color seen in "Hyalite" Opal (Opal-AN). If you're one of the many people who love Quartz and its many varieties, or if you're collector of specimens from the southwestern United States, be sure to pick this one up. This is a very rarely seen specimen for what it is, and the historic locality makes it all the more interesting.
