Item Description

The Jeffrey Mine has produced some of the most distinctive and magnificent quality Garnet crystals extant. The elusive pink Grossulars from Jeffrey are highly sought after by collectors. This specimen is features very good quality, sharp, lustrous, bright orange-pink color, gemmy, dodecahedral crystals of Grossular which measure up to 6 mm with tightly intergrown semi-"rosette"-shaped groups of brownish-green Clinochlore (mistakenly labeled as Mica) on matrix. Considering that this material is no longer being found (the Jeffrey Mine is now completely defunct and will not produce these specimens again), the value will continue to increase for these specimens. A wonderful display specimen of these Canadian classics. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5644). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
