Item Description

These specimens were mined recently (circa 2020-2021), and have a distinct color that is not typically seen in Quartz. The color is clearly different from Rose Quartz, as it's a softer pastel hue that almost resembles manganese-bearing Calcite. We don't know specifically which chromophore is causing the pink color in these crystals, but it's certainly striking. I can say that the color is not a coating, as there are some contacted areas on the back of the piece, and you can see the pink hues runs through the crystals, so it's a chemical component and not a secondary deposition causing the pink color. This piece is filled with dozens of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic hexagonal Quartz crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm long, sitting on matrix. The front/display side of the piece is in great condition, with no major damage that I can see, but as previously mentioned, there are some contacted areas on the back. Overall it's a very showy and eye-catching specimen with a lovely hue that would make a great addition to any Quartz suite or a collection of Peruvian minerals. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
