Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Calcite (var: Plumboan Calcite) from the world famous Tsumeb Mine. This piece features sharp, very lustrous, golden-brown colored crystals of Plumboan Calcite associated with prismatic soft yellow colored crytals of Tarnowitzite (Plumboan Aragonite) measuring up to 2.3 cm long. The piece has good aesthetics and despite the fact that the Tarnowitzite group is contacted, it's still an important and rarely seen specimen of this classic material from Tsumeb. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12107) with a label of A. Berger of Vienna, Austria. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
